TIME - Trauma Training

The Basics of Trauma

TIME for the Basics of Trauma

All staff attending any of the TIME training modules are required to attend this module.

A maximum of 20 members of staff and volunteers can attend this training module.

This module is suitable for all staff and volunteers that have no prior training or knowledge of trauma.  It introduces key elements of trauma, the principles of trauma-informed practice and includes the introduction of TIME to support staff as they begin to consider how they offer trauma-informed practice within their individual role. The module will support staff and volunteers to gain knowledge and understanding of:

  • what trauma is.
  • how trauma affects the brain.
  • the effects and impacts of trauma on the individual.
  • the principles of trauma-informed practice.
  • recognising trauma and responding positively to survivors to support recovery and avoid re-traumatisation.
  • the importance of self-care.
  • applying TIME to their role within the organisation or service.

Cost

The cost of each module is available on request and does not include travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses for the TIME trainer. MSP will work with those who commission the training to ensure expenses are as low as possible.

Organisations and services are welcome to commission single training modules or the whole programme of training modules.

My Sisters Place will also work with smaller organisations and services whose staff team may be less in number than the maximum number for each training module to consider how they can commission the training in a cost effective manner.

Requirements for delivery of the training

To enable the training to be delivered effectively and smoothly, a room is required that can comfortably accommodate the number of participants equipped with tables and conducive to group activities.

My Sisters Place will provide a laptop but it is requested that a screen or space to show the training presentation be provided along with a projector and WiFi access.

We will liaise with commissioning organisations and services in advance of delivery to ensure all conditions are set in place to ensure smooth delivery of the training.
